North Georgia Cabin Rental Tips

So you want to rent your Blue Ridge or Ellijay cabin...

Things to consider:

Insurance

Talk with your agent, be sure you have the right coverage.

Marketing

Do you have a budget for marketing your cabin or cabins? Where will you advertise? What makes your cabin rental stand out? Are you marketing to the budget crowd or the luxury crowd? Be sure you know your customer and sell to them.

Type

Are you looking for average or upper class clients? Are your cabin rentals geared towards singles, newlyweds or families? Consider the following list. How do you match up against the competition?

  • Pool
  • Style
  • View
  • Location
  • Jacuzzi
  • Furniture
  • Atmosphere
  • Watercraft
  • Entertainment
  • Video Games
  • Electronics
  • Billiards Table
  • Movie Rentals
  • Candles and oils
  • Books
  • Catering
Cleaning & Maintenance

Will you require contract help or are you planning on doing the house keeping and repairs? If you have multiple cabins will it be more cost effective to have your own staff? Will someone be available 24/7 for your guest's needs? Do your guests know when you are available?

Accounting

How will you track guests and cabin reservations? Will you keep your own books or hire an accountant / bookkeeper for your rentals?

Safety

Do you have a copy of the state and local code? Are you obligated by law to provide things like fire extinguishers and marked exits? If you rent to families are the cabins "child proofed"? Do you have emergency lighting in case of blackouts?

These are just a few of things you may have overlooked or not yet considered for your cabin rental venture.
